Ian Oland from RMNB writes that Jayden Daniels had a prime view for the action, sitting glass-side behind the net the Capitals attacked twice. He was joined by fellow quarterbacks Marcus Mariota and Sam Hartman.
Following Washington's 3-1 victory, the Commanders crew headed to the locker room, where Daniels met Alex Ovechkin for the first time. Daniels told the NHL's all-time leading goal scorer it was actually his first-ever hockey game.
As the two superstars chatted, Ovechkin asked Daniels how he enjoyed the experience of attending his first hockey game.
«Yeah, it was fun. A lot of energy. It was dope. First one ever though.» -Daniels
Throughout the game, the three quarterbacks tossed signed footballs into the stands, engaging with the crowd and adding to the excitement.
Former Notre Dame quarterback Sam Hartman got the Washington Capitals crowd going for Game 2 along with Commanders quarterback teammates Jayden Daniels and Marcus Mariota.
The
Alexander Ovechkin throwback sweater is a nice touch. Love playoff hockey.
All in all, for a first hockey game, Daniels sure looked like he had a blast. Most importantly, they secured the win for the Capitals.
Hopefully we'll get to see some Commanders' players at more Capitals games throughout their playoff run.
