New twist in Ryan Leonard's situation signals possible roster change
The Washington Capitals are gearing up for Game 4 tonight against the Carolina Hurricanes, and a new development hints at a roster change for tonight's matchup. At the morning skate, forward Taylor Raddysh stayed on the ice for extra practice time, a clear indication that he will be sitting out tonight's Game 4 in the press box.
Washington Capitals make strategic adjustments to lineup
After a tough 4-0 shutout loss in Game 3, it's clear the Washington Capitals are struggling to keep up with the Hurricanes high-speed offence.
While the Caps' are known for their firepower, their bigger, heavier lineup has had a hard time containing Carolina's speed up front.
Ahead of Game 2, head coach Spencer Carbery opted to healthy scratch
Ryan Leonard in favour of activating forward Taylor Raddysh. That adjustment paid off in game 2, but game 3 was a different story altogether.
The Capitals generated very little offensively, and it was obvious the lineup was missing some much-needed speed.
It looks like head coach Spencer Carbery is set to make another adjustment - Ryan Leonard will be reinserted into the lineup to add pace and open up some much needed space.
Even though Leonard is still a rookie and hasn't lit up the scoresheet yet, there's no question he brings a different dynamic with his speed and energy.
The puck drop for Game 4 tonight against the Washington Capitals and Carolina Hurricanes is set for 7:00 ET.
