Quinn Hutson is reportedly set to join the Oilers right away, using up the first year of his three-year contract and instantly becoming a lineup option for Edmonton.
Edmonton Oilers officially signing college forward Quinn Hutson to an entry level contract. Expected to join the team right away.
Hutson, a 23-year-old right-handed winger, is coming off a standout season at Boston University, where he tallied 23 goals and 50 points over 37 games.
Liam McCormick from Oilers Daily writes that although Quinn may be a bit undersized at 5'11" and 176 pounds, he shares the same puck skills and offensive flair as both of his brothers, he could be a dynamic addition to the Oilers' roster.
"Although Hutson is immediately burning a year off his contract and will be an option for Edmonton, it's unknown if he'll actually get into games with the Oilers, it may have been a negotiating tactic to get him signed." -McCormick
Cam Robinson had this to report on X Saturday evening.
I'm told that Quinn Hutson - the eldest Hutson brother, will sign a 2 year ELC with the Edmonton Oilers after tonight's NCAA National Championship game.
He'll report directly to EDM and will instantly burn a year off the deal, making him an RFA at the end of the 2025-26 season.
The Oilers are in clear need of an injection of youth, and bringing in NHL-ready talent like Hutson is a smart move.
This signing should generate plenty of excitement in Edmonton, as they're adding a young forward with star potential who's ready to contribute right away. It's a significant acquisition for the team.
