Aliaksei Protas, who's been out with a lower-body injury since early April, might be finally ready to play. Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery said Protas is getting real close to returning to action.
Carbery says that Capitals forward Aliaksei Protas will be a game-time decision ahead of Game 4 in Montreal on Sunday night.
Earlier this week, Protas has been making steady progress in his recovery. On Friday, he took part in line rushes with his teammates, and on Saturday, he was taking part in some light battle drills at practice.
Spencer Carbery says they'll see how both Aliaksei Protas and Logan Thompson are feeling this afternoon. Essentially, they'll be game-time decisions
He's still being closely monitored by the Capitals training staff, but hearing Carbery announce that Protas is officially a game-time decision is very promising news ahead of Game 4. All signs are indicating that he is inching that much closer to a possible return tonight.
Aliaksei Protas is on the ice, too. Had a chat with Coach Carbery before the skate started. #ALLCAPS
