Ryan Leonard has big words ahead of tonight's matchup against the Boston Bruins
You couldn't ask for a better NHL debut than this.
Just two days ago,
Ryan Leonard was playing for the Boston College Eagles, but his world has since been flipped upside down as he looks ahead to his first game in the big leagues.
Ahead of tonight's matchup against the B's, Ryan Leonard made himself available to the media, emphasizing this incredible milestone in his young career.
«It's been a dream come true,» Leonard said Tuesday. «Meeting all the guys and really looking forward to tonight. It should be a lot of fun. This is the only debut I'll have,» he added. «Not really something that you can put into words - something you really dream about comes true.»

While it's important to keep expectations in check for the Hobey Baker finalist, Washington Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery is wasting no time throwing him into a challenging spot, slotting him into a top-6 role with
Dylan Strome and
Aliaksei Protas.
«I think giving him an opportunity to play inside our top six was objective [number] one,» Carbery said. «Objective two - give him a couple of linemates that can help him through situations. So, whether that's a communication standpoint or Pro being a really smart, intelligent, in-the-right-spot type of player. I think those are characteristics that can help a young player that's playing his first NHL game.»

Although he's only 20 years old, Ryan Leonard has demonstrated professionalism, poise, and skill through his years at the NCAA level.
It should be interesting to see how
Ryan Leonard performs at the NHL level -- but one thing's for sure, the Washington Capitals just became a lot more dangerous.
