The rat to Washington? The Stanley Cup Champion Brad Marchand would be an interesting signing by the Washington Capitals. The Florida Panthers left winger is set to become an unrestricted free agent, and could possibly be a perfect fit with the Washington Capitals if he leaves the Florida Panthers.

This past season Brad Marchand recorded 51 points between his split tenure with the Florida Panthers and the Boston Bruins consisting of 23 goals and 28 assists.
Brad Marchand simply fit in place with the Florida Panthers following his trade at the NHL deadline that sent Marchand to the Florida Panthers in exchange for a conditional 2027 second round pick that went the Boston Bruins way.
Brad Marchand only played in 10 regular season games with the Florida Panthers following the NHL trade deadline, however his impact was most felt during the Florida Panthers 2025 playoff run that resulted in another championship in the sunshine state.
In the Stanley Cup playoffs, Brad Marchand's veteran leadership proved to be vital for the Florida Panthers. In 23 playoff games Brad Marchand would go lights out with 10 goals and 10 assists playing a huge role in helping the Florida Panthers repeat as back-to-back Stanley Cup Champions.
During his time in Boston with the Bruins Brad Marchand always seemed to be a thorn in the side of Washington Capitals fans. In 49 games versus the Washington Capitals, Brad Marchand has 19 goals and 23 assists

Would Brad Marchand be a good fit potentially with the Capitals?

Time will tell if Brad Marchand signs with the Washington Capitals or not? He has made his intentions clear that he wants to remain with the Florida Panthers.
There is the possibility he could also head back to Boston and reunite with a Boston Bruins team that he had spent most of his career with.
Despite being 37 years old heading into free agency, the Canadian left winger has proven he still has a lot left in the tank, and will be one of the most sought-after free agents once free agency begins on July 1st.
