Looking back at two trades the Washington Capitals made on June 21st 1991 which was 34 years ago today.

The first of the two trades was the Washington Capitals acquiring Shawn Chambers from the Minnesota North Stars (Dallas Stars) for Trent Klatt and Steve Maltais.
Shawn Chambers would only play two games for the Washington Capitals due to injuries.
The Capitals left Shawn Chambers exposed for the 1992 Expansion Draft in which he was claimed by the Tampa Bay Lightning. Shawn Chambers would play in 625 games in his career that went until 2000 along with only 50 goals to his credit alongside 185 assists.
Trent Klatt would go on to play 47 games for the Minnesota North Stars, but would play in 782 career NHL games up through the 2003-04 season with the Los Angeles Kings. Klatt would have 143 goals and 200 assists for his career.
Steve Maltais would only play 12 games for the North Stars, but would have a successful minor league career with the Chicago Wolves.

The Washington Capitals with 2 big trades 34 years ago today

Randy Burridge would go on to play parts of four seasons for the Washington Capitals where he would score 48 goals and 61 assists in his 150 games in Washington.
For his career Burridge would play in 706 NHL games with 199 goals, 251 assists, and 458 penalty minutes. In 1995 the Washington Capitals would trade Burridge to the Los Angeles Kings for Warren Rychel.
The Capitals would then trade Warren Rychel to the Toronto Maple Leafs for a 1995 4th round pick that would be used on Sebastien Charpentier with the 93rd overall pick. Sebastien Charpentier would play in 26 games in his NHL career with all 26 in Washington. Sebastien Charpentier would have 6 goals and 14 assists during his time in the NHL.
As far as Stephen Leach. He would play in 702 NHL games in his career with 130 goals and 153 assists before retiring in 2000.
A couple interesting trades from 34 years ago made by the Washington Capitals after their 1990-91 season was ended by the Pittsburgh Penguins in five games in the Prince of Wales Conference Division finals.
