Washington Capitals get defensive boost with elite defenseman return against Columbus Blue Jackets

After missing the last two games due to illness, the defenseman is set to suit up as the Capitals host the Columbus Blue Jackets at Capital One Arena in Washington.

Jakob Chychrun's return couldn't come at a better time for Washington who are looking to rebound from their 7-0 loss in Columbus on Saturday and Spencer Carbery labeled the tonight's game as ''massive game'' as the Caps aim to regain momentum with the playoffs approaching.

In his first season with the Washington Capitals, Jakob Chychrun has played a big role on the back end by logging big minutes and contributing at both ends of the ice and on the power-play.

His return adds stability to the defense that was tested during his absence especially with veteran John Carlson sitting out tonight's game for rest.
