The Washington Capitals season is officially done after a crushing second round defeat to the Carolina Hurricanes, and Caps' GM Chris Patrick now heads into the offseason with a tough task: injecting speed to the team's core. That said, forward Andrew Mangiapane is now a UFA, and it appears that he will be testing the market to find a new team.

This past season, Andrew Mangiapane made $5.8 million, fourth among Capitals forwards.
While Mangiapane has proven to be a decent middle-six forward, his price tag doesn't warrant a contract extension by the Washington Capitlas.
A big factor that stood out in the Caps' second-round loss to the Hurricanes was speed, and Chris Patrick should prioritize acquiring elite depth players in the off-season.

Top trade destinations for Andrew Mangiapane

While it's unlikely Chris Patrick will bring back Mangiapane, we take a look at potential teams the veteran forward could sign with this offseason.
Nashville Predators
It was a struggle of a season for the Predators. They were projected to contend for a playoff spot but would finish 30-44-8- and placed seventh in the Central Division. Still, the Predators need another top-six forward.

Mangiapane only put up 28 points last year, but was above 40 points in both of the two years before that. Further, he has shown to be a power-play presence, scoring eight goals with three assists on the power play in the 2021-22 season.
New York Islanders
The Islanders could be another potential destination for Andrew Mangiapane. They traded away Brock Nelson during the season, losing a bunch of depth fourth down the line.

Columbus Blue Jackets
According to sources, Mangiapane would fit well on the second or third line for Columbus. With Sean Monahan, Kirill Marchenko, and Boone Jenner taking the top line, Mangiapane could fit in with Adam Fantilli and Kent Johnson on the second line.

More details to follow.
