Claims made that Capitals' crest needs a change

A Roundtable of hockey writers was assembled, purely as an exercise, to nominate teams that needed total uniform overhauls, and a change to a logo that best represents the team. One in particular chose the Washington Capitals as having the league's worst crest.

According to Matt Larkin of Daily Faceoff, the Chicago Blackhawks could use a change for purely political reasons, but claims that pick is too easy.
Matt did however, claim that the Washington Capitals crest fails aesthetically for him, saying that he can't stand a crest that primarily consists of a word, ''It's lame and screams, 'Oh crap, that was due today?' "
A legitimate and awesome crest already exists for the Caps, Larkin added, and should be made the permanent crest, and not only used on special occasions: The Screaming Eagle. It could be one of the NHL's best logos.
Scott Maxwell claims the Florida Panthers crest is the worst, by a mile. The jersey is nice, he says, but the logo feels like what you'd see out of a soccer team (no disrespect intended). Maxwell believes the team's original logo was iconic, and can't understand why they went to the current one.
Steven Ellis says, Easy Peasy. The Buffalo Sabres. Yet, he believes their 3rd jersey i better than just about anyone's in the NHL. The Goathead, Steven claims, is a reminder of close to two decades of failure, and is reminiscent of past top players for Buffalo who, although unsuccessful, were at least entertaining.
Paul Pidutti goes with the Dallas Stars. Though he likes the bright green scheme, the logo is a yawner and its design boring; it lacks the creativity worthy of a strong franchise.
Paul says bring back the all-caps DALLAS on the logo and jersey, add a small silver star, and embrace the slick, clean college hockey look.
Anthony DiMarco picks the New Jersey Devils. In short, he says, when was the last time the sweaters looked different. In fact, New Jersey is only one of five teams that have never changed their look.
Perhaps it is time for a change.
