The Washington Capitals are finishing up their morning skate as they get ready for a heated second-round playoff showdown against the Carolina Hurricanes. After taking a well-earned day off from the ice yesterday, the team hit practice today in good spirits - and with a bit of mischief. They kicked things off by pulling a hilarious prank on rookie Ryan Leonard.

It's no secret this Capitals group is incredibly close.
Their chemistry and camaraderie were on full display throughout their first-round series against the Montreal Canadiens, and that same energy carried into today's practice.

At practice today, Ryan Leonard was spotted sporting the iconic yellow laces - a trademark look of Alexander Ovechkin ever since he broke into the NHL.
In the photo above, Leonard is seen grinning ear to ear, and it's clear the locker room had a little fun, slipping the yellow laces onto his skates as a prank.
You've got to love it!
Leonard has been a revelation for the Caps' since joining the team late in the season.
Since signing his three-year entry-level contract, he's carved out a spot in the Capitals roster.
Head coach Spencer Carbery has trusted him with big minutes alongside some of the team's elite players, and Leonard has thrived under the pressure from day one.
This season, the Amherst, Massachusetts native led the nation in goals with 30, sitting 10th in the NCAA with 49 points in 37 games.
Who knows - maybe those yellow laces will stick around when the Capitals take on the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday.
More details to follow.
