The Capitals entered the third period down 2-1 but after Wilson delivered a crowd silencing hit on Canadiens defenseman Alexandre Carrier, the momentum immediately shifted in Washington's favour.

Sami Silber from The Hockey News writes that it was a clean hit, with the initial contact targeting the shoulder. As Carrier went down, the Capitals regained momentum, with Brandon Duhaime driving into the offensive zone and sparking a surge of four unanswered goals in the third period, putting Washington up 3-1 in the series.
Here's what Wilson had to say following his team's Game 4 victory.
"It's been a physical series both ways, getting hit, giving hits, they've been really physical, so it's a long series. You just try and kind of invest and continue to play hard every shift you're out there. It was a big hit and the boys were able to score right after. That's the way hockey goes." -Wilson

Silver also writes that Wilson played a pivotal role in the Capitals' Game 4 win, leading all forwards in ice time with 21:16 minutes. He also delivered a team-high six hits, recorded three shots, and sealed the victory with an empty-net goal. With points in three of the four games in the series, Wilson has been instrumental in elevating Washington's 5-on-5 play.
Washington returns home with the opportunity to advance to the second round in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since their 2018 Cup win.
The Capitals will host the Canadiens for Game 5 on Wednesday at Capital One Arena looking to close out the series.
