After being decisively outshot 1-4 and falling behind 2-0 in the first period, the Capitals began to show signs of mental lapses creeping back into their game.
That's when it became clear-- Alexander Ovechkin had seen enough.
The Washington Capitals captain took matters into his own hands, getting physically involved and sparking a momentum shift that the entire team rallied behind.
Washington responded with four unanswered goals to storm back and take the lead.
While the game eventually went to a shootout, the Capitals walked away with the win-- and in his postgame interview,
Alexander Ovechkin sent a clear message: He wants another Stanley Cup.

OVECHKIN: Yeah, it's always the dream, and it's a long way-- so just gotta play game-by-game. We have four games left, so we have to be ready for that.
REPORTER: Now that the chase is over--can you just simply focus on hockey?
OVECHKIN: Yeah. I hope it's not going to be a thing--no more questions about it. Were just going to move on.
For most of the season, the spotlight has been firmly fixed on him, with team success often taking a backseat.
Now that the media can shift its focus,
Alexander Ovechkin seems more determined than ever to chase another Stanley Cup-- making it his next mission in what has already been a historic season.
