Another big achievement in April for Alexander Ovechkin
Alex Ovechkin's historic week has cemented his legacy as the greatest goal scorer in NHL history.
By scoring five goals in four games, the superstar reached 895 career goals and has officially
surpassed Wayne Gretzky long-standing record of 894 and the record-breaking goal came from his signature power-play spot against the Islanders, in his 1,487th game which is the same number Gretzky played in his career.
Alex Ovechkin's ability to perform at such an elite level even as he approaches 40 is remarkable and he also became the first player in NHL history to record multiple five-game goal streaks after turning 39.
In addition to breaking the all-time goals record,
Alex Ovechkin passed Jaromir Jagr for the most game-winning goals in NHL history with 136 and extended his own record with his 14th career 40-goal season which is two more than Gretzky ever had.
If he finishes the year with 45 goals, he'll also pass Gordie Howe for the most goals scored in a season by a player aged 39 or older.
This milestone isn't just a personal triumph but a celebration of longevity, passion and dedication to hockey.
He isn't just rewriting the record books but he's also redefining what's possible for aging athletes.
With 900 goals in reach and maybe even 1000, Ovechkin's encore may prove just as historic as the chase itself.
We're witnessing a once-in-a-lifetime athlete change the game, one goal at a time.
