The Capitals announced today Tom Wilson has been named the club's 2024-25 nominee for the @NHL's King Clancy Memorial Trophy. actively gives back to the community through two player programs and by participating in additional initiatives throughout the season.
It's a great week to be a Washington Capitals fan.
The King Clancy Memorial Trophy is a sports award given annually to the National Hockey League (NHL) player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and who has made a significant humanitarian contribution to his community.
This isn't Tom Wilson's first time being nominated for the award. The Washington Capitals also put his name forward during the 2023-24 season.
While he didn't take home the honours last year, his impact in the community has only grown stronger since.
In December, Wilson surprised more than 70 local children affiliated with United Heroes League by joining them in a hockey clinic at MedStar Capitals Iceplex.
He also teamed up with the NHLPA and United Heroes League to surprise four deserving military members and their families with the news they would be welcomed by the NHLPA and United Heroes League to the 2024 NHL All-Star Weekend in Toronto.
Congratulations to Tom Wilson on receiving this distinguished honour.
