Good news on beloved Washington Capitals commentator
Last week, Capitals long-time colour commentator Craig Laughlin was forced to step away from the boradcast booth due to health problems.
On Tuesday, Laughlin revealed that he's feeling a lot better and will be back in the broadcast booth for Game 5.
Laughlin took to X Tuesday afternoon to share the great news...
Hey #ALLCAPS fans. Heart surgery recovery has its ups and downsbut I'm back to 100% and getting my notes ready for Game 5! Looking forward to being back in the booth tomorrow with my @MonSportsNet family. Let's go Caps!
Chris Cerullo from RMNB writes that Laughlin shared on social media Tuesday that he would be stepping away after missing Games 3 and 4 in Montreal. Laughlin underwent open-heart surgery in February hadn't been feeling well following a full month back on the job.
"Alan May filled in for Laughlin as the network's color commentator for the two games in Montreal and will return to his role as a studio analyst on the pre and post-game shows." -Cerullo
The Capitals can punch their ticket to the second round with a Game 5 win after taking a 3-1 series lead over the Canadiens on Sunday night.
With national broadcasters taking over for the rest of the playoffs after Round 1, Game 5 could mark the final time we hear Joe Beninati and Craig Laughlin in the booth until next season.
Puck drop is set for 7:00pm on Wednesday night from Capital One Arena.
