The Washington Capitals are gearing up an epic Game 5 showdown against the Montreal Canadiens tomorrow night, and head coach Spencer Carbery looks to make strategic adjustments during morning the skate.
As they gear up for tomorrow's matchup against the Canadiens, there are still a few injury concerns lingering.
On top of that, the coaching staff will need to fine-tune the lineup to better match Montreal's dangerous special teams.
Morning skate just wrapped up in D.C., so let's break down the latest from the ice.
Washington Capitals practice notes
Capitals forward
Aliaksei Protas has been spotted at the morning skate participating at full speed.
After suffering a serious skate blade injury against the Chicago Blackhawks in early April, it's been a long road back -- but Spencer Carbery says he's ready to return.
All signs point to him rejoining the lineup tomorrow night.
Meanwhile, Capitals captain
Alexander Ovechkin was absent from practice today. Although his absence raised a few eyebrows, team insiders say it was just a maintenance day -- nothing to be concerned about.
The Capitals have yet to release any lineup lineup updates. That's partially because
Aliaksei Protas is expecting to return, and Carbery is still weighing his options on where he'll slot in.
We'll likely have a clearer picture after tomorrow's morning skate.
In net,
Logan Thompson stayed in the starter's crease and looks set to build on his strong recent play.
Game time is set for 7:00 tomorrow night at Capital One Arena.
