The Washington Capitals are known for their physical play on the ice and their sense of humor off of it.

Throughout the 2024-25 season, the team has developed a reputation for relentless pranking among teammates and the latest victim is Tom Wilson.
While speaking to media on Monday, Tom Wilson revealed a curious new addition to his locker which is an egg and it's not a plastic Easter egg, it's a real one.
«One of my teammates got me an egg,» Wilson said. «I don't know who. It's got my name on it, though. Lucky egg. Not moving it.»

«I am slightly worried that it's going to smell if they make a long playoff run,» Adler remarked.

Those pranks seem to point to a familiar name involved and it's the one of Logan Thompson who earlier this season, Wilson called out Logan Thompson for taping a smiley face and name tag :
«Tom :)»

This was on his helmet during a media day and on Monday, Wilson again caught a Thompson special:
«Thommer's jokes getting old,» remarked Tom Wilson as he peeled off stick tape on Matt Roy's helmet that read 'Matt :).' «He always does it on camera days.»

The egg might be a prank but Tom Wilson isn't taking any chances with the Capitals heading to the second round of the playoffs, the egg is now considered a good luck charm.
Fans may remember Alex Ovechkin's 2018 superstition with a locker room stool during the Cup run and maybe, just maybe, Tom Wilson's egg will carry the same kind of magic.
If it doesn't rot first.
