The Washington Capitals are gearing up for Game 5 against the Carolina Hurricanes, and head coach Spencer Carbery has made some significant roster changes ahead of tonight's matchup. According to sources, forward Lars Eller will be healthy scratched and will watch Game 5 in the press box.

I think it's safe to say that the Washington Capitals have been decisively outmatched by the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Washington Capitals trail 3-1 in the series, head coach Spencer Carbery is resorting to drastic measures to ultimately force a Game 6.
According to sources, Lars Eller will be a healthy scratch tonight due to his ineffectiveness in the series thus far.

Lars Eller healthy scratched for Game 5

In a lineup adjustment, forward Connor McMichael will shift from the wing to center. While it's not his primary position, head coach Spencer Carbery has full confidence in Mcmichael's ability to step up and handle the role effectively.
According to RMNB, Eller has seen his ice time decrease during the Capitals-Hurricanes series, playing under 12 minutes in every game of the series and less than 10 minutes in Games 2 and 4. Playing with Andrew Mangiapane and one of Ryan Leonard and Taylor Raddysh, Eller's line has struggled against Carolina. The Mangiapane-Eller-Leonard/Raddysh trio has been out-attempted 46-19, outshot 20-10, and out-chanced 23-9 by the Hurricanes at five-on-five, with an 8-4 disadvantage in high-danger chances.
«It's no different for Dylan McIlrath not playing, Ethen Frank - there's lots of guys in and out of the lineup this time of year,» he said. «Those decisions are never easy, but also ones that we don't take lightly. We try to do what's best for the team every single time we make those decisions.»

While await the official starting roster from head coach Spencer Carbery, don't be surprised if Lars Eller is missing in action tonight against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Will this bold adjustment by Carbery pay off? Time will tell.
