Spencer Carbery delivers impactful statement on Alexander Ovechkin
The Washington Capitals are coming off an epic Game 5 victory over the Montreal Canadiens, eliminating them from postseason contention. While last night's 4-1 victory has sparked excitement in Capitals Nation, they have Alexander Ovechkin to thank for it.
After wrapping up their first-round series in just five games, the Washington Capitals are now setting their sights on the formidable Carolina Hurricanes in the second round of the 2025 NHL playoffs.
Even though the matchup with the Montreal Canadiens was brief, credit is due to the Habs for putting up a solid fight.
In the end, though, Washington's star power was just too much to handle -- especially with
Alexander Ovechkin leading the charge.
Following last night's win, Capitals head coach
Spencer Carbery spoke with the media and made a point to praise Ovechkin for the key role he played throughout the series.

Spencer Carbery called Alex Ovechkin's performance to open the playoffs "outstanding," and "night and day" from last year."
"He continues to do things that you just can't wrap your head around in this sport."
Alexander Ovechkin has been an absolute force this series. Averaging a point per game, he's not only been lighting up the scoresheet but also throwing his weight around and physically every shift.
After the game, Ovechkin celebrated the team's first trip to the second round in seven years, and you could see just how much it meant for him.
