In a season dominated by Alex Ovechkin's historic ascent to the NHL's all-time goal-scoring, the Washington Capitals had a good campaign under Spencer Carbery.

Following a 5-4 shootout victory over the Carolina Hurricanes, Spencer Carbery's postgame comments showed not only the team's resilience but also his humility in balancing individual milestones with collective success.
Carbery has consistently praised his team's character and in particular their ability to come back from deficits.
After securing their league-leading 13th comeback win, he acknowledged the squad's belief and resilience by saying:
«And now we're just very confident in those moments, but you're playing with fire. We are playing with fire when you're constantly trailing in games. And the score is the score, you don't want to give up that first goal, but we just, yeah, we've got to continue to build our game.

The wins and points in this league - it's never easy to win hockey games in the National Hockey League, so we will take that all day long. But we also too are a mature group and understand that we've got to work to get better and be able to stay more consistent with them, especially on home ice.»
While Alex Ovechkin's milestone has put a lot of attention on him, Spencer Carbery made sure that the spotlight doesn't overshadow the team's achievements since he emphasizes the importance of every player's contribution by creating a culture where individual success complements team goals.
This approach has helped having a balanced environment that is allowing the Capitals to thrive collectively.
Spencer Carbery's leadership style is marked by effective communication and a focus on team unity, which has been a large part of the Capitals' success.
His ability to celebrate individual milestones while maintaining a team-first mentality exemplifies the humility and dedication that are the Capitals' 2024-25 season.
As the playoffs approach, Spencer Carbery's perspective and emphasis on collective effort position the Capitals as one of the best contenders in this year NHL playoffs
